ENERGY STORAGE

Sirius Energy Storage is the world’s first storage system that uses supercapacitors that contains no chemicalsas storage media. With Kilowatt Labs’ proprietary balancing, control and charging algorithms, Sirius Energy Storage delivers deep cycle discharge, long duration discharge and high energy density as well as fast charge / fast discharge capabilities. It has extremely long life, non-flammable, non-toxic, dense, inexpensive, easy to produce. Sirius is a modular and scalable system, available from Wh to MWh, and is suitable for deployment in grid storage, BTM storage, EV’s and consumer devices, at pricing lower than comparable chemical batteries. It is currently for sale as a fully plug-and-play replacement for all current chemical battery applications.

SIRIUS BATTERY ADVANTAGES

The Sirius battery can be charged in less than 30 seconds without affecting cycle life. This feature delivers significant advantages in a wide range of deployments such as in electric vehicles or utility grade frequency regulation.
An infrastructure of fast-charging stations eliminates the need for large battery banks with extended range. Fast-charging of the Sirius provides utilities with real time response capability to frequency regulation.

Sirius' proprietary algorithm-based balancing, charging and control circuit actively balances and stabilizes the system, delivers deep cycle and long duration discharge and specific energy of 115 Wh/kg. Therefore, in addition to standard fast charge / discharge usage, the Sirius storage system can be deployed at industry voltage, in applications requiring deep cycle discharge including electric vehicles.

With a Depth-of-Discharge (DOD) of 100% and round-trip efficiency of 99.1%, the Sirius battery’s delivered and rated capacity are almost the same, allowing for a significant reduction in the number of batteries required when compared to systems utilizing chemical batteries, thereby lowering capital investment.

The cycle life of the Sirius storage system is 1 million cycles at 100% DOD with negligible capacity fade and impact of charge / discharge rates. Combined with very low maintenance requirements, Sirius delivers power and energy at an unmatched cost per cycle.

With a temperature tolerance range that is higher than most chemical batteries, the Sirius battery can be deployed in extremely harsh environments without cooling or heating, resulting in less oversight and maintenance.

A charge retention circuit controls a small percentage of embedded Li Ion to supply current to reduce charge leakage and increase self-discharge time to 14 days.

Kilowatt Labs launched Centauri, a power electronics energy server that delivers functionality enabling renewable generation + energy storage to supply 24 x 7 electricity without the grid.
Centauri Energy Server is a plug-and-play, modular, hardware and software device, that accepts simultaneous, multiple energy inputs from both renewable and non-renewable sources, manages distribution of the energy inputs to load and storage (and grid if required), and from storage to load during nighttime, regulates output power quality, manages intermittency, balances the batteries and delivers stable and reliable electricity, 24 hours a day, at or below grid parity in selected territories.
Centauri is available from kilowatts to megawatts with a design life of 20 years.

Microgrids
- Stable and reliable 24-hour electricity for communities of any sort with or without grid access.
- The Centauri energy server enables electricity to be supplied to any sort of community using 100% renewable energy generation or a blend of renewable + non-renewable energy generation, with utility-grade power output quality, reliability and stability.
- In remote locations with no or poor grid access, Centauri based solutions can eliminate fossil fuel powered generators, eliminating CO2 emissions completely as well as the dependency on fossil fuel supplies that are not only costly, but also uncertain.
- In locations with grid access, Centauri based solutions can be deployed at critical assets (military bases, hospitals, fire stations, police, rescue, data centers etc.), interconnected with the grid, but islanding and seamlessly switching to other power sources in emergency situations. Centauri based solutions can be deployed at the residential, commercial and industrial level reducing congestion and deferring generation and T&D investment, and eliminating the need of incentives such as NEM programs.
